Myspace MyAds Advertising for Small Businesses



With MySpace's new MyAds service, anyone can launch an ad campaign on News Corp.'s social network for as little as $25

MyAds, a new approach to advertising that allows small businesses and individuals to create their own banner ads—illustrated messages in fixed places on a Web page.

MySpace is betting that small businesses will turn to online ads as a cheaper alternative to traditional marketing. "In these economic times, marketers want to use their dollars more efficiently," says MySpace founder Chris DeWolfe. "This is the most efficient way you could do it in a low-risk way."

Until now, MySpace catered to large advertisers and ad agencies. Search advertising led the way in making advertising affordable and easy for individuals and small businesses. But MyAds is one of the few programs selling small-business display ads on social networks, giving small businesses an opportunity to reach specific local or national niches among MySpace's 122 million users.

Google Tips for structuring Site

Here are some tips for structuring your site:

* Your pages should have a clear hierarchy and relevant internal links. We also recommend creating a Sitemap and using Google's Webmaster Tools. These tools are useful, user-friendly and will provide information such as where your backlinks come from or which queries visitors used to reach your site.

* Use < title > tags that are explicit and useful for the user. For example, avoid a title like "Homepage" or "Welcome to my site".

What’s the difference ?

Navigation Menu In-Content Links
Consists of sitewide isolated links that carry less SEO weight.
Are links in context that allows search engines to learn more about the destination page.
Offers more control over website internal structure: you don’t need to think much of internal interlinking once you set up your navigation.
Are more spontaneous (more difficult to manage) but offer full control over internal anchor text.


To my mind, in-content links are not going to replace navigation menu completely (after all, there is nothing better from usability point of view and it can be easily and thus effectively managed). The point of this post is to encourage webmasters to experiment moving some of your links from the navigation menu into the content area and also to try the following:

* breadcrumbs;
* “related categories” and “related articles” blocks;
* different navigation menu for different page types; etc.

Text Identification

In order to identify the text in an image in Acrobat, you would need to run OCR(character recognition) after opening your image-based PDF. Then go to the document menu, where it will scan the document and translate the image-text into text. You can then even edit the text according to your search engine optimization requirements.

Dividing the larger files

Dividing a large PDF file, into many smaller files would make it easier for the search engines to easily find your web page. By specifying your files, you can reduce the PDF download time, while you have the choice of opting for broader range of search keywords.

Optimize your PDF copy

After you have indexed the text PDF for search engines, you should also optimize the text with SEO techniques. Use specific keywords for the PDF and use them in the PDF text headlines, subheads and copy.

Discard duplicate content

You should be aware that the search engines simply hate duplicate content. So why bring the wrath of the search engines on you. Therefore, you should either alter one of same content that you have on the site, or delete it all together. Also, another option would be using proper meta tags. As it can prevent the search engines from indexing one of the pages.

Adding metadata

Another PDF technique would be adding text related Metadata. It would describe your file to the search engines and the search engines would use these information to index your page.

Add your company footer

If not, go to your General Settings panel under preferences to make it web-friendly.

# Specify the reading order. This helps search engines know which part of the text is most important on your page. Also, if your first paragraph wouldn't make a great description tag, consider creating a footer and making it number 1 in the reading order.

Once you’ve settled on the most likely search terms for each region you serve, you’ll want to set up separate URLs for each geographical market. Be sure to include the respective geo-specific search terms in each URL, each URL’s title tag and meta description, and in the anchor text of links pointing to these pages.

Next, logically incorporate these market URLs into user-friendly, intuitive navigation on your site, perhaps into a “markets” or “locations” section visible from your home page.

With the recent admission by Matt Cutts to Stephan Spencer that Google is using Adobe Systems' Search Engine SDK technology, a new set of optimization opportunities opened up.

That fairly definite confirmation of how Google reads text within Flash files makes it possible to create Flash .swf files with some level of search engine optimization.

"It used to be the case that we had our own, home-brew code to pull the text out of Flash, but I think that we have moved to the Search Engine SDK tool that Adobe Macromedia offers," Cutts said. "So my hunch is that most of the search engines will standardize on using that Search Engine SDK tool to pull out the text."
