With MySpace's new MyAds service, anyone can launch an ad campaign on News Corp.'s social network for as little as $25
MyAds, a new approach to advertising that allows small businesses and individuals to create their own banner ads—illustrated messages in fixed places on a Web page.
MySpace is betting that small businesses will turn to online ads as a cheaper alternative to traditional marketing. "In these economic times, marketers want to use their dollars more efficiently," says MySpace founder Chris DeWolfe. "This is the most efficient way you could do it in a low-risk way."
Until now, MySpace catered to large advertisers and ad agencies. Search advertising led the way in making advertising affordable and easy for individuals and small businesses. But MyAds is one of the few programs selling small-business display ads on social networks, giving small businesses an opportunity to reach specific local or national niches among MySpace's 122 million users.

Google Tips for structuring Site
Here are some tips for structuring your site:
* Your pages should have a clear hierarchy and relevant internal links. We also recommend creating a Sitemap and using Google's Webmaster Tools. These tools are useful, user-friendly and will provide information such as where your backlinks come from or which queries visitors used to reach your site.
* Use < title > tags that are explicit and useful for the user. For example, avoid a title like "Homepage" or "Welcome to my site".
* For images, use ALT attributes to describe appropriately what the image is about. We've recently created a quick and useful YouTube video to further explain this topic:

Best Internal Architecture for SEO

Internal linking should also be done with the help of in-text link rather than navigation menu.
What’s the difference ?
| Navigation Menu | In-Content Links |
| Consists of sitewide isolated links that carry less SEO weight. | Are links in context that allows search engines to learn more about the destination page. |
| Offers more control over website internal structure: you don’t need to think much of internal interlinking once you set up your navigation. | Are more spontaneous (more difficult to manage) but offer full control over internal anchor text. |
To my mind, in-content links are not going to replace navigation menu completely (after all, there is nothing better from usability point of view and it can be easily and thus effectively managed). The point of this post is to encourage webmasters to experiment moving some of your links from the navigation menu into the content area and also to try the following:
* breadcrumbs;
* “related categories” and “related articles” blocks;
* different navigation menu for different page types; etc.

Best Internet Marketing - Viral Video Content ! ?

MarketingExperiments Journal investigated whether viral video content could actually produce click results. It pulled in more than 80,000 views in only one month by producing and posting 28 amateur-style videos for the Web. After two months, that number grew to 300,000 with no further work or investment.
A viewing audience of 300,000 is fantastic for brand recognition alone, but MarketingExperiments took it one step further by tracking where visitors clicked next. Out of 324,190 views, more than 4,000 people continued to explore the Web site hosting Verio brings something extra to Linux: reliability. Click to learn about free test. the video and, unlike a story or advertisement on television, these videos continued to draw views and attract visitors without the threat of going off the air or having a limited runtime.
This is not the only means that video can assist in online visibility. The creation of blended search by Google and other search engines made it possible for videos to actually find their way into search rankings for specific keywords.
Video can easily be used as a similar form of link bait and possibly have an even greater chance of success due to a rapidly growing online viewer base .......

Tips for Lead Generation Landing Pages
1. First Impressions Matter. Make sure your landing pages are instantly relevant to the search term.
2. Have an Offer. Your landing page only needs to convince the visitor to sign up for a free offer; it doesn't need to sell your company.
3. Remove The Site Navigation. Simpler pages usually work better for lead generation.
4. Use Graphics Wisely. Graphics are main thing that draws the eye — the right one can work wonders, the wrong one can distract from your conversion.
5. Make Your Content Scan-able. People don't read landing pages, they scan them.
6. Only Ask What You Really Need. Simple forms convert better, and you can always collect more during your lead nurturing process.
7. Capture Implicit Information. Use hidden fields and click paths to capture additional information about your leads.
8. Have Reasons to Give Valid Info. Don’t just give the offer to the prospect, email it to them — this ensures you get a valid email address.
9. Say Thank You. The confirmation page is a great opportunity to deepen the relationship by making another offer or asking more information.
10. Test - But Don't Over Test. Testing is a great way to optimize your pages, but don't over-test — A-B testing works great and most B2B companies don't have the volumes to support more sophisticated techniques like multivariate testing.

Optimization Tips for PDFs
Optimization Tips for PDF:
Text Identification
In order to identify the text in an image in Acrobat, you would need to run OCR(character recognition) after opening your image-based PDF. Then go to the document menu, where it will scan the document and translate the image-text into text. You can then even edit the text according to your search engine optimization requirements.
Dividing the larger files
Dividing a large PDF file, into many smaller files would make it easier for the search engines to easily find your web page. By specifying your files, you can reduce the PDF download time, while you have the choice of opting for broader range of search keywords.
Optimize your PDF copy
After you have indexed the text PDF for search engines, you should also optimize the text with SEO techniques. Use specific keywords for the PDF and use them in the PDF text headlines, subheads and copy.
Discard duplicate content
You should be aware that the search engines simply hate duplicate content. So why bring the wrath of the search engines on you. Therefore, you should either alter one of same content that you have on the site, or delete it all together. Also, another option would be using proper meta tags. As it can prevent the search engines from indexing one of the pages.
Adding metadata
Another PDF technique would be adding text related Metadata. It would describe your file to the search engines and the search engines would use these information to index your page.
Adding links
In Acrobat PDFs you can add links, so that the customers can have a look at the product and can even add it to their shopping cart if they are interested.
Add your company footer
A company footer would include your companys name, address, contact information and website link. You can add these information to every PDF to facilitate searches for your business.
Optimizing links to the PDF
In order to convince, the search engines that your content is relevant, your website should have a display text containing the text specific keywords.
SearchEngineWatch Says more about it --
# Make sure your PDFs are text-based. Creating a PDF from a Microsoft Word document should be ok, but when you get into other programs like InDesign or Quark, then you run into text-based issues. And, as always, optimize the copy to reflect the targeted keywords.
# Pay attention to Accessibility. The accessibility tools can be found under the advanced options. With them, you can order the priority of text on a page and create alt tags for images.
# Customize your PDF properties. The title in the properties becomes the title tag, not the title of the file, so be sure to write an optimized title for your PDF properties. This is what searchers will see in the results of their favorite search engine.
# Don't forget about usability. Optimization of a PDF is only good if web users can read it. Be aware that not everyone has the latest version of Adobe Reader. Save your PDF at a version lower than the most recent update. Also, make sure file sizes are as compressed as possible and use properties to see if you have a "fast web view." If not, go to your General Settings panel under preferences to make it web-friendly.
# Specify the reading order. This helps search engines know which part of the text is most important on your page. Also, if your first paragraph wouldn't make a great description tag, consider creating a footer and making it number 1 in the reading order.

SEO for B2B markets : Geo-Specific Search
Make a list of the geographical regions for which you want to get found. Think of the most likely geographical modifiers (terms) prospects in your markets will enter when searching for what you offer.
Once you’ve settled on the most likely search terms for each region you serve, you’ll want to set up separate URLs for each geographical market. Be sure to include the respective geo-specific search terms in each URL, each URL’s title tag and meta description, and in the anchor text of links pointing to these pages.
Next, logically incorporate these market URLs into user-friendly, intuitive navigation on your site, perhaps into a “markets” or “locations” section visible from your home page.

Google reads Flash Text

With the recent admission by Matt Cutts to Stephan Spencer that Google is using Adobe Systems' Search Engine SDK technology, a new set of optimization opportunities opened up.
That fairly definite confirmation of how Google reads text within Flash files makes it possible to create Flash .swf files with some level of search engine optimization.
"It used to be the case that we had our own, home-brew code to pull the text out of Flash, but I think that we have moved to the Search Engine SDK tool that Adobe Macromedia offers," Cutts said. "So my hunch is that most of the search engines will standardize on using that Search Engine SDK tool to pull out the text."

Ecommerce and Shopping Cart Optimization

1. Designing for Success
- The top 100 eTailers prefer a 2 column, centered designed. The next most common design is 2 column, left justified design. However, there is no one size fits all solution. You have to test to see what converts best for your product.
Example sites:
-- KineticFountains.com
-- Cafepress.com
-- ATouchofBrass.com
-- EpicDental.com
Make sure your proceed to checkout buttons are highlighted and easy to find. Make sure you have contact information easy to find, same for shipping info.
Try to have a mini-cart show up in the sidebar after users have begun adding items to the cart. This gives them easy access to the products they've already selected.
Take people through specific funnels to optimized product pages. (Checking analytics and seeing what keywords people are searching for is helpful for this).
2. Internal Site Search
It's not an option, it's a requirement. Make sure your site search is displaying relevant results. Check the Google Analytics site search report. People that utilize site search convert at a rate 5 times higher than other visitors. If you're not doing your site search well, then don't make it prominent.
No results page is your chance to save a customer/sale. Offer the visitor other options... best sellers, links to similar categories, etc?
-- WallysWine.com (Site Search Results Page)
-- EpicDental.com (No Results Page)
3. Why Should I Trust You ?
Establishing trust with your visitors is important. Assure them your site is secure, your business is solid, responsible and fair. Footers are a good place to put all of your assurances... again, years in business, security, guarantees, credit cards accepted, etc. Remind users that you value their privacy and personal information.
4. Make Buying Simple
-- Show progress
-- Eliminate distractions
-- Reduce shopping cart abandonment
-- Relay error messages in a friendly, useful manner.
Single page checkouts often help conversions by reducing distractions and generally making the process more simple and quicker.
5. Let Your Site Be Known
-- Internal Linking
-- Header Tags
-- Page Titles
-- Anchor Text
-- Image Optimization
6. An Image Says a Thousand Words
-- Your images sell your products
-- Telling a story with your images
-- Multiple images
-- Comparing product images; make sure you're using the most enticing photo available. If you only have blah pictures, get new ones shot.
7. Climbing the Ranks
Pay attention to your off-page SEO. Increase your inbound links through:
-- Online Press Releases (PRWeb.com is used as an example)
-- Directory submissions
-- Blogging/Link Baiting
-- Shopping Feeds (make sure you optimize your data feeds)
Rob Snell, "Pimp Your Products, Sell More Stuff"
The more content we put up, the more our sales went up. First, we got a spokesmodel (Rob's brother Steve), then we wrote buyer's guides. The buyer's guides answer the questions the buyers are going to ask before they call us and ask. We're also starting to add videos. We haven't seen an increase from this yet, but it's new and I think it's going to really help things.
The problem that people run into with their ecommerce sites is that most retailers copy and paste their vendor information right onto their sites. So everyone sounds the same. Exactly the same. These retailers are being lazy. They're not adding any value to the customers.
So how do you pimp your products?
Be an expert. You know so much more about your products than your customers do, and in general retailers aren't doing a good job conveying their knowledge to their users.
Offer your opinions on your products. Offer testimonials. Tell the users what to buy.
Make your own images. Again, you don't want to look like everyone else; but, make sure you're making high quality images.
Get all the content from the manufacturer. Get stuff from on the box, in the box, advertising, instruction manuals, etc. The more content the better. Remember, it's easier to get forgiveness than permission. I'm not telling you to violate copyright... but I'm not telling you I'm not doing it, either. I've never had a manufacturer call me up and tell me to quit promoting their product.
Use the keywords the customers will use.

Optimizing Your Site for Contextual Ads

A lot of websites have unreasonable amount of ads and this hurts other sites. Sites have too many banners, buttons, widgets and so on - its just clutter.
Sponsored Link Tips
1. Show the ads - usatoday, wallstreet journal, msnbc examples - clean design.
2. Focus on the Audience first - Many advertisers will start blind and then learn to focus on certain audiences. Advertisers go on audience and general topics - they dont do 1:1, more Category level for a given topic.
3. Dont be afraid to try different colors - Try colors and tinker with things. He encourages you to experiment.
4. Try different Placements and Ad types - Move the placement around and see the shapes/sizes as well.
5. Bottom of the page = bottom of the barrel. Please dont run sponsored linkes 4,567,890 pixels down the page !
